CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exams let you test out of introductory courses and move to more advanced courses sooner, saving time toward your degree.
Taking the CLEP at ISU
- Register and pay the testing fee at the CLEP website before scheduling your exam.
- See available days and times to schedule the CLEP Exam by clicking the calendar icon above.
- There is a $45 proctoring fee that you will pay at the time of your exam.
- On exam day, you must present one form of government issued, non-expired identification (Driver's License or Passport)
- You will receive your score at the end of the test.

High School Students and the CLEP Exam
If you are an Idaho high school student, ask your school counselor about the Idaho Advanced Opportunities Program which provides $4,125 in state funding to Idaho public school students to pay for dual credit courses and CLEP.
Free CLEP Prep and Exam Opportunity
Students can prepare for CLEP exams by taking free online courses from Modern States, a philanthropy dedicated to making a college degree more affordable and accessible for everyone.
Modern States offers 32 free online courses that prepare learners for taking CLEP exams. Learners who complete a Modern States course and practice questions receive a voucher to cover the cost* of a CLEP exam.
